Million Metres in 2019

6 Mar 2019 by The Million Metres team

2019 is shaping up to be another busy year for freshwater – from national policy and water sector reforms; to the growing momentum from business to tackle water issues; to large scale conservation and restoration, including 40+ Million Metres projects literally growing, up and down Aotearoa.

We’re really excited about what Million Metres will be working on this year!  We’ve got over fifteen new projects launching all around the country, from the Far North to Otago.

We’re stoked to announce two new major funding partners – Auckland Council and Foundation North. These partnerships will see Million Metres focusing on work in the Northland, Auckland and Waikato regions this year as we develop larger collaborative catchment scale projects.

GulfX is the Sustainable Business Networks new programme to restore the mauri of the Hauraki Gulf. Million Metres is proud to be a part of this mission!

We’ve got a wonderful new partnership in the South Island to announce this year that will see us focus on supporting community groups and waterway restoration in the Otago region. More on this later in the year!

Million Metres is launching a new planting day event series with our foundation partner Alsco this winter. Keep your eyes out for invites to our key planting day events around the country throughout winter.

This year Million Metres will continue to create, celebrate and grow the connections between people, and between people and nature. We hope you will join us.

Thank you to our partners Alsco, Auckland Council, and Foundation North.
